Rhinestones & Lace

*All products were provided for an honest review

When we receive products to review, my sister Vicky and I (Erika) have to figure out who is going to get what. We received a package from Born Pretty Store, an online beauty and nail art supply store, an epic rhinestone wheel was included. I knew I had to get my hands on it!

There are three different sizes of clear rhinestones. There are so many pieces included in this wheel for under $5 that I can't imagine ever using all of them.

I wanted to do something out of my comfort zone, so I tried some freehand nail art. I started with 2 coats of Zoya Neely, my new favorite mint green. Then with an art brush I painted on 2 coats of Julep Billie Jean is sort of an 'S' curve. With a thin striping brush I added a little glitz with Essie Beyond Cozy.

The final bling comes with the rhinestones. On the accent nail I applied the rhinestones from large to small. On every other nail I just added the largest rhinestone at the base. I like to use nail glue to attach these kinds of things because they last a lot longer. Finished off with 2 coats of top coat and there you have it!

This wasn't the neatest mani I ever did, but I was still pleased with it. I'm IN LOVE with my rhinestone wheel and I will definitely be getting a lot of use out of it!! Get it here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not to be outdone,  I (Vicky) used a set of black lace water decals that Born Pretty sent to create this masterpiece.  This is the first time I have used water decals and I'm in love!!

These decals are really easy to apply and you can customize them to get the look you want.  The decals come in thick strips and I cut them down to make the diagonal french and used a fuller section of the strip for the accent nail.  Applying them is similar to putting on a fake tattoo- with a moist paper towel, except once the paper is moist you can slide the decal off and position it on your nail.

My base coat is Essie No Baggage Please, the perfect pastel pink for summer!  I'm really happy with how this mani turned out and I am looking forward to using these decals again.  They are great for people who want a quick and easy nail design or for those who might struggle with freehand nail art (Like my sister...hehehe!).  Born Pretty Store has a huge selection of lace strips and other fun patterns which can be found here.

Brighter IS better!

There was a time when all I wore was pink polishes. This week I put on a pink polish and it just didn't look right. I was painting my toes, (Zoya Neely mint green with a metallic silver french tip...AMAZING!) and my hubby says, "Why don't you do something normal like a regular french manicure or red?" HAHAHA!! I almost died!! I never wear red and didn't I just post something about how french manicures are so 90s? He's such a comedian my husband. LOL

The moral of the story is...I love bright, colorful polishes. AND GLITTER!!! This mani had both, of course.

The bright, bold blue is Color Club Chelsea Girl.  It borders on what I would call a neon blue. I have read that these kinds of polishes stand out more when used with a white base. I will definitely try that next time because I was hoping this polish would have been brighter.

I love an accent nail made of glitter. I used one coat of the Chelsea Girl and two coats of Lush Lacquer Neon Blast, a sheer black base glitter bomb filled with neon glitter of all different shapes.

How do you feel bright, colorful manis? Are they for you? Or do prefer the pinks and more subdued palettes?

Neon Aztec

Aztec prints are everywhere these days.  Every store I go into is selling aztec shirts, leggings, bags and accessories.  I have been dying to do an aztec pattern on my nails but I wasn't sure I could pull it off because of the intricate lines.  First I tried doing this with Sharpies.  I have used Sharpies in past manis and I loved it because it offers so much more control than using brushes.    Unfortunately, the black marker smudged when I put the topcoat on and did not stay on without a topcoat.  How frustrating?  I think black Sharpie is just too inky for nail art on white polish.  It killed me to have to do it over, but I just had to because the design was so awesome.

I took a deep breath and started again... I painted my nails white and used acrylic paints for the design using a thin lining brush.  A design like this is pretty time consuming but the final product made it worth it!  Plus, I got a ton of compliments!  Many people actually thought they were stickers  :)

I don't often repeat designs, but this one will probably show up again sometime this summer with different colors and I will switch up the pattern a bit.

Nail Fail?

I would consider this a NAIL FAIL for 2 reasons.

1) When I got the amazing polish, Zoya Adina, I was so excited about it. It looks amazing in the bottle. It's a duochrome violet polish. I don't have many duochrome polishes so I was happy to add this to my stash. When I applied it I didn't think it had the same brightness that it had in the bottle, so I was disappointed. I also think this is too dark for me right now. I'm really feeling the pastel/neon trend. I will definitely break out this color in the fall.

2) The studs! Blah! I was going for a totally different look. These are way too big. I didn't mean to cover my WHOLE nail. It looks kind of like a shield. LOL

What do you think of this mani? I don't like, but I bet someone out there does. :)

Rainbow Honey Sweet Talk

I finally got a chance to try out one of my Rainbow Honey purchases.  Sweet talk is a white-based speckled polish.  It goes on very smooth and looks awesome! The specks are fun pastel colors of purple, pink and mint green shades.

I think 3 coats would make it look more opaque white rather than the sheer milky look I got with 2 coats.

Kinda looks like a jawbreaker right?

You can buy buy this and other Rainbow Honey polishes here.

WooHoo!

Zoya Spring French

The typical french manicure is so 90s. Now it's time to put some life into it by adding color and accents.

In my french manicure I used 2 coats of Zoya Sweet, a fresh bubblegum pink. Then I added the french tip with Zoya Neely, the perfect mint green. I'm loving my Zoya polishes!!

I used a thin art brush to add a silver accent using Sephora by OPI Social Climber

To add a little extra pop, I flip-flopped the colors on the ring finger.

I don't usually do french manis because I can never get the lines straight enough. I found this video by All Lacquered Up that shows a really effective method. I'm definitely going to be doing more french mani color combos!!

Nail Foils and more!!!

*All products were provided for an honest review

Today we have a special post. We were sent some cool products from KKCenterHK, an online beauty supply shop that carries tons of nail art supplies and tools. If you need it, chances are, they have it..in every color!! Here are just a few of the things you will find at www.kkcenterhk.com.

I've never used nail foils before, but I have always wanted to try them. The process of applying them is very simple. I suggest applying a base color that is similar to the foil color just it case you have any bald spots, they won't be as apparent.

KKCenterHK has a detailed tutorial video on the product link that was very helpful.

The things that's cool about nail foils is you can't get the effect they give from any polish, so they are truly unique. KKCenterHK offers a ton of different colors and patterns. I love this pink pattern for the Spring!

KKCenterHK has a huge selection of glitter in different shapes (hexagons, stars, diamonds, hearts, etc).  For this mani I used their multicolored heart glitter.

I like that the hearts come in all different colors and they are very easy to apply.  I have very small nails so a lot of nail glitters/studs are too big for my tiny nails, but this glitter is just the right size!  These will definitely come in handy next Valentine's Day!

Finally, we have what it called 'Sexy Girl', or what looks like a pin up girl. I had to put it on my nail sideways because it's really big. Even putting it on this way it doesn't lay flat. Unlike my sister, I have a decent size nail bed to work with.

N.NAIL 6mm Sexy Girl Glitter-Black

This would be a super fun look for a bachelorette party! I could totally see going out and having all the girls with matching manis. So fun!

If you're looking for some fun stuff to make your mani more exciting, check out KKCenterHK. Their products are inexpensive and they ship quickly. You won't be disappointed!

Mint Julep

I had to use some of my new polishes, so I used three in this mani!! I love that I can get away with this kind of look and people compliment it instead of looking at me like I'm some kind of weirdo!!
BTW- My right hand is the opposite of this hand with glitter on the ring and middle fingers. SO FUN!!!

I finally found a true mint color!! Zoya Neely, a creamy polish that was a little thick and tricky to apply, but looks beautiful!! I'm in love with this polish!!

The teal-green polish is SinfulShine My Kryptonite. This pic is not true to color, it's much more green than this pic shows. This was also very thick. On the fingers with glitter I only used one coat and it was opaque. On the others I used 2 coats and a topcoat. Other bloggers have reported that they didn't use a topcoat with these polishes because they're so shiny without it, but I can't go without a topcoat.

Isn't this glitter topper spectacular?? Usually something this amazing would have to come from an indie polish maker. Nope! This is Julep Paris!! I only used one coat, dabbed on to get it even. This topper is full of multidimensional holographical glitter and boy does it SHIMMER!! This glitter will look good over any polish! I'm so glad it came in my May box.

I'm loving this multi-color glittery mani! I'll have to think of another way to use some more of my other new polishes with this glitter. :)

Hey did you enter our SPRING FLING GIVEAWAY??? Check it out here!

Nail Mail/Haul

I love when things just come together! Today I got my May Julep Maven box. Then I went to my sister's house and low and behold, our Zoya Earth Day promo polishes came!! Perfect timing!! On the way I stopped at Walgreens to see if they had gotten in the new Sinful Shine collection. AND THEY DID!! YaHOO!!

So here is what I got:

The 3 polishes on the left are from my Maven box. The theme this month is the 1920s style and the bonus product was a lipstick. I never wear lipstick, so I chose the box that has 3 polishes. I wouldn't usually choose neutral colors like Ciara and Coco, but I don't have anything like them in my stash so I thought I'd give them a try. Paris, the glitter in the center, is AMAZING looking. The 2 on the left I snagged in the spring sale promo Julep was having this week. Only $11.20 altogether for both!! That's a steal for these I thought!!

Ciara, Coco, Paris, Patti, Billie Jean

I wear bobby pins all the time, so when I saw these thrown in the box I was thrilled. Aren't they adorable??

Zoya was having an amazing promo this month for Earth Day. Half off polishes!!! For $4 a bottle I think every nail blogger hit up this promo! Zoya polishes are fantastic!! It was a 6 polish minimum, so my sister and I split the order. These were my pics! I think I finally found my true mint polish!!
 Tallulah, Adina, Neely

Sinful Colors is a great, cheap polish brand that is available at Walgreens, Target and other retailers and sells for $1.99. They just released a new line of polishes called SinfulShine only available at Walgreens. Their website says it's, "5x more glossy than a patent leather shoe." Haha...that's a funny way of describing nail polish. Anyway, this stuff is supposed to be bananas and it's still only $2.99!!! The color assortment is huge. I had the hardest time choosing these. I picked up 2 others for sissy. :)

Steel Reserve, My Kryptonite, All the Rage, Most Sinful

I can't wait to get these on my nails...and toes!!!!
